2024 VI-GRADE ZERO PROTOTYPES SUMMIT

Driving simulators have become an integral part of the vehicle research process. More and more advanced technologies are being used to increase realism and immersion. In addition to LED walls, Head Mounted Displays (HMD) in combination with immersive environment simulations based on Unreal Engine 5 also have the potential to significantly improve immersion at the driving simulator. The presentation will focus on the integration of the Varjo XR-3 on the DiM250 and the first experiences that have been achieved with it in virtual test-driving scenarios. In particular, the difference between HMD and projection in terms of driver perception and behavior is highlighted.
