The purpose of vehicles is to transport goods and people from A to B. People would like to have a pleasant feeling during driving which is provided by the vehicle and developed in the vehicle attributes. The combination of all those attributes generates the drivers impression. Based on shortened development timings, upcoming AD-Systems, Robot vehicles with connected functions in combination with updated legal framework, the automotive development needs to be rethought. Following an extensive virtual function development process, all dynamic attributes should be developed in parallel under consideration of driver interaction from day one of the development phase. EDAGs approach is to use the Zero Prototype Lab as a driver-oriented test laboratory providing three different driving simulators for vehicle attribute development. The Laboratory focused on dynamics attributes with driver in the loop and hardware in the loop simulators. In summary, EDAG Zero Prototype Lab is one of the key tools supporting a development process facing the upcoming challenges in terms of driver impression.
