The simplicity yet complexity of Twist beam suspensions lies in the fact that their performance depends entirely upon the structural properties of the beam itself. Part of a flexible body’s real behaviour could be lost in the process of converting multibody models into parametric ones, which, in turn, presents difficulties in modifying compliant-related items. The remaining solution is to convert new models for each intended configuration. Thanks to a groundbreaking approach followed jointly by Mahindra and IDIADA, integrating ADAMS Real-Time models into IDIADA’s DiM250, it has been possible to capture all the behaviour of the system with a high degree of fidelity. As a result, enhanced rear suspension performance for an electric SUV was achieved through a rapid and precise virtual tuning process.
