VI-grade Supplies Shanghai Jiao Tong University with VI-Motorsport

Marburg, May 24th, 2012 – VI-grade GmbH, the leading provider of best-in-class products and services to bridge the gap between real world testing and technical simulation, today announced that the Formula SAE team of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) has selected VI-Motorsport, VI-grade’s complete suite for system-level racing simulations, to optimize the setup of their racing cars.

 

 

The Formula SAE team founded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University was one of the earliest teams in mainland China participating to the Formula Student event. In 2011, three years after the team’s debut in FSAE California, a brand new SJTU Racing Team was established by a number of enthusiastic students under the support of the School of Mechanical Engineering and of the Institute of Automotive Research and Engineering. Today, the team consists of 50 innovative, perseverant and ambitious members coming from 9 different schools on campus. The structure breaks down to three sectors: R&D, business, and media, covering a wide range of tasks.

The team will participate to the FSAE China competition in October 2012 and is also planning to attend hybrid vehicle competitions in the future.

“Due to resource limitations, performance adjustments through test-driving is quite inconvenient and largely restrained. Therefore, during the design procedure we are working on the improvement of the performance of our racing cars by means of CAE tools, which leads to higher efficiency and lower risk with respect to the traditional physical prototyping approach.” says Dr. Mian Li, Director of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) Racing Car Team. “Fortunately, VI-grade is capable of assisting us to combine conceptual design with practical test-driving, thus enabling our team to seek for the optimum performance of our FSAE racing car.”
