Nexen Tire selects VI-CarRealTime to optimize the design of their tires
Marburg, Sept 12th, 2014 – VI-grade, the leading provider of best-in-class products and services to bridge the gap between real world testing and technical simulation, today announced that the Korean division of Nexen Tire, leading tire manufacturer, selected VI-CarRealTime, the specialized real-time vehicle simulation environment from VI-grade, to optimize the design of their tires. In particular, the Nexen Tire research and development division will use VI-CarRealTime to predict the dynamic behavior of high performance tires as part of full-vehicle models under various driving conditions.
“We are excited about the collaboration with Nexen Tire” says Guido Bairati, Sales Director of VI-grade. “The addition of this important new customer to the comprehensive list of VI-CarRealTime customers reconfirms the strategic value of our solution in the automotive engineering process, with particular reference to the relationship between OEMs and suppliers.”
About VI-CarRealTime
VI-CarRealTime provides a vehicle simulation environment where the same simplified vehicle model can be used by vehicle dynamics and controls engineers to optimize vehicle and control system performance. The product enables engineers to quickly and easily perform large Design of Experiments (DOE) and multi-objective optimization studies. VI-CarRealTime is the only real-time solution available in the market that can automatically and seamlessly export a real-time vehicle model directly from ADAMS/Car™. Similarly, VI-CarRealTime also enables to share component property files such as tires, springs, dampers, and bumpstops with ADAMS/Car™. VI-CarRealTime provides validated models which can be used by controls and hydraulic engineers to optimize the controller design based on accurate vehicle performance. VI-CarRealTime can be integrated with Matlab Simulink for controls systems.
About Nexen Tire
Nexen Tire Corporation is a tire manufacturer, headquartered in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, and Seoul in South Korea. The company's name is reflected in the company slogan, "Next Century Tire." Established in 1942 under the name, Heung-A Tire Company, Nexen Tire Co. has served the industry ever since and it has been recognized in 1956 as the first Korean tire company. In 1985, Nexen dedicated a facility in Yangsan, Korea, to the production of radial tires. The company changed its name in 2000 from Woosung Tire to Nexen Tire Corporation: the name Nexen is a combination of two future-oriented words; next and century. That same year also saw Nexen Tire listed on the KOSPI 200 Index future market. In 2005, Nexen Tire was awarded a patent for the technology to manufacture rubber/stratified silicate nano-composite tires. By 2006, they had completed development on the new UHP and Winter LTR/SUV pattern. To accommodate increased global demand for the Nexen brand, they opened yet another tire manufacturing plant in Qingdao, China in 2007. Nexen's domestic market share increased from 8% to 20%, with annual sales exceeding $600 million dollars. Nexen employs over 2,000 employees. Nexen Tire currently exports to 120 countries.
